Its been awhile....

Things have been so hectic around here. I've had a horrible sinus infection, had to go to the ER for antibiotics. After 6 days I broke down and used the Netti Pot and it worked like a charm. But now I'm starting to feel a little stuffy again. Other than that I can not wait till Dylan is born. Uncomfortable nights of no sleep is catching up to me.

Miles is doing great. I cant believe how much his vocabulary is expanding and the sentences he can put together. He is unfortunately going thru a biting stage. All I read is we have to catch him in the act and explain how this hurts and is not ok. So any suggestions how to nip this in the butt would be great.

Cody is great, working so much like usual. He is a chocolatier this week. He is making like over 900 chocolates (very fancy decor) for a party for his boss. And no I didn't even get one piece brought home to me:( Hello your wife is pregnant.....LOL

Pregnancy

As much as Im ready to be done, I have to keep this little boy in a little longer. We had a scare last week, went to the hospital and had to stop labor. Dr. put me on home rest for 10 days till I reach 36 weeks. And man oh man Im am already board. So 7 more days and I can go back to work. After 36 weeks the baby is safe to come out, he will not have to say in NICU if he does come then. Dr. said once next Sunday hits I can run a marathon if I want.

There have been some contractions daily, but nothing too close together. I have to watch to make sure there are not more than 6 in a hour.

Why is it so hard to rest when you are told to though? I feel like especially with a 2 year old work would of been a bigger break than being home all day.

So I sit all day, on "pelvic rest" the Dr. calls it. Miles will still go to his regular scheduled days at daycare this week. I guess this gives me time to finish my last min preparations for baby and finish my books that I have not read yet.

But to be honest the closer I get, Im getting a little scared. Miles was not the easiest delivery so we are praying for a smoother birth.

Catching up, its been a few

Miles-Miles is growing bigger everyday. I think he actually is finally understanding in his own way that his little brother is coming soon. I  think it will be a real reality check when Dylan comes. Miles is quite the mamma's boy. But for now he kisses the belly everyday, tells him "good boy", and rubs my belly. His new favorite word is "My Turn" which really means mine, the typical 2 year old word they all love to say. Its funny in a way, but its still a little frustrating. But hey, they all go thru it right. The potty situation has been getting better, just silly little accidents here and there. This past week has been a little bit of a challenge with getting him to stay in bed. He usually is the kid that runs to bed, says bye and falls asleep all night. Not really a snuggler.  Lately he has wanted to be held, he keeps waking up and opening his door, or he wants us to lay in bed with him. My theory is he knows something is up (aka Dylan coming soon). I'm also taking any suggestions on how to get rid of the NINNY (pacifier),. He only gets it when he is in bed, but I think now that he is 2 it should be gone. Every time I explain to him that ninny is going away, or its for baby Dylan i get a big LOUD NO. Cody thinks its ok to let him have it longer. Another thing we disagree on, I think he is scared of his baby growing up.  Which I totally understand. It is one of those things where you are so proud to see them growing and learning , but also sad seeing them grown.

Cody-He has been so busy at work, but he loves every minute of it. The only bummer is we never and I say NEVER get a day off together. But it is better for Miles to have more time with each one of us. He is so excited to have another little boy, he actually told me how sorry he felt for me because I'm going to be teased so much. YA YA I know I'm in for it with a house full of boys. But he truly is the most amazing father and husband, those of you who know him know how kind and amazing he is.

Me-Just busy with work, still working the same hours and days. My body tells me to slow down , but its so hard. Ive also had this damn round ligament pain, so Its a little difficult to walk alot some days. I just keep repeating to myself, only a few more weeks to go and I will get an amazing gift in the end. I'm also very excited for my baby shower next weekend.  Excited for great company and a adult night out, minus the drinking for me. :( And man oh man I'm ready for a cocktail!! HAHA I have a Dr. apt tomorrow so if there is any exciting news Ill let ya all know:)

Favorite things

I know so many people who always ask what my favorite skin care, baby or other household products are. So I thought I would list a few. Please feel free to  share your favorites or thoughts...

Baby Products:

  • California Baby-very safe natural products. I have been using these since Miles was born. They are made by a mom, with no harsh chemicals. Though they may be a little more costly you can feel good knowing you are not using something harsh or full of chemicals on these little babies/kids. There skin is fresh and new and has not been through the grinder like ours as adults. Who knows what we have done to our poor skin over the years. I love the bubble baths; they have a Calming with Chamomile (which I use the body/hair wash in this scent too) that is great at bed time or if they are wired. There is also the Overtired/Cranky with Ylang Ylang for calming or if they are just cranky (we all have had those days) this really works. And I think one of my favorite bubble baths is the Cold and Flu with Eucalyptus. This is amazing for runny noses or if they are just feeling yucky. Keep an eye out at Babies R Us, you can use a coupon on these or sometimes they have buy 2 get 1 free, so we stock up. Also Target carries this brand. Ive ordered online too when I cant find the family size body/hair wash at Target. They also make a safe SPF for babies/kids
  • Lavanila-The Healthy Baby Butter. I switched to this lotion for Miles about 8 months ago. It is AMAZING. They do have a lotion but I prefer the baby butter. It smells yummy and if he gets any bumps on his skin, I lather this on and they are gone. Moms-they make perfumes and lotions too for you, my favorite is the vanilla lavender. You buy these at Sephora
  • Aveda Beautifying Oil-want no stretchmarks while pregnant....have your hubby rub this on your belly every night before bed. I had a 9.3 pounder and not a mark, nothing yet with this one either. So nourishing for the skin. I use the Nivea Essentially Enriched for daytime on the belly. So hydrating too.
  • Gripe Water-I get the more natural one at Whole Foods in the dark blue bottle. This is amazing for a tummy ache or cranky baby. I wish they made it for toddlers too.
  • Hylands Teething tablets-they were recalled, but these things were amazing. They calmed the babies and toddlers down. They are researching a herb that was in them. Actually my sister in law said that the dosage they put in them was not harmful or drugged the baby. No matter what, they worked and I hope they come back.
Momma Skin/Body/Hair Care-some of my favorite brands:
  • Phytomer, sea based skin care line. Love Love Love this line. A few favorite things...Oxygen Serum, Purifying Gel Cleanser, Youth Creams (Expert and Initial)
  • Clarisonic Brush. Probably the best investment Ive ever made for my skin. I could not live with out his.
  • Berts Bees of coarse for the chap stick
  • Image-Ormedic Gel Cleanser and Lip (the best lip product I have ever used)
  • Hydropeptide Eye Cream
  • Moroccan Oil-Oil, Hairspray, Hydrating Styling Cream, Intense Curl Cream
  • Solar Oil-cuticle oil
  • Fleurs Eye Makeup Remover-b5 to strengthen lashes
  • Too Faced-eye shadow Natural Kit
  • Shu Uemura eye lash curler. So sad you cant buy at Sephora anymore, buy it online
  • Nars Orgasm Blush
New Moms-Men may not want to read....
  • Buy some cotton breast pads, wet and put in the freezer. Amazing for sore nipples while breast feeding. Rotate them out in your bra after baby is done feeding. Reduce swelling and redness, help with chapping.
  • Use a nipple cream safe for babies, I used Lansinol brand.
  • If you have the baby the natural way, you may tear or be sore. I had a 3degreee tear. I got the best advice from my mother and sister in law. Get some tucks pads, keep them in the fridge. Every time you change your pad and use the numbing spray they give you at the hospital line the pad with about 3 cold tucks pads. This will be the most amazing thing you have ever done for yourself after baby. Sounds gross I know but you will appreciate it.
  • Oil that belly still-but I would switch to a more firming oil to tighten skin
  • I bought a Belly Bandit this time, its a wrap to wear with in 8 hours of delivery and up to a few months. Lets see if it works, I will keep you all posted. There are ladies I know that swear by it.
House stuff:
  • Of coarse you all know I swear by and sell Gold Canyon Candles. I love them. I really do not think I could live with out my favorite scents. I'm so excited they brought my favorite Strudel and Spice back for the kitchen. I can feel safe burning them, they use cold wax too so if Miles ever grabbed one and spilled it on him he would not get burned. Besides Candles I love there cleaning supplies called Homeology
  • EO hand soap from Whole Foods. Healthy and smells yummy. We are using Peppermint and Tea Tree right now.
  • Seventh Generation dish soap in Lavender and Mint. I do not recommend there diapers, they crumble and make a mess when wet. So Pampers is what we used, Huggies are too rough and give rashes.
I hope you all enjoyed, again let me know if you have any questions or let me know if things you love too. Maybe I can even get Cody to do a blog on here one day about his favorite foods, recipes and restaurants.

Potty Training

So we started potty training in January  (a month before Miles 2nd Birthday) I do not need two in diapers. One shitty diaper is enough for this lady. He has been doing do great. But lately there has been a little struggle. Monday at school he had 3 accidents, but then yesterday none. Sometime he will just look at you and pee, and then say uh-oh MaMa. Or just be silent about it, then run to the bathroom. So my amazing husband tells me he is going to buy pull ups. I refuse, to me this is like telling Miles its ok to pee in a diaper. My husband says Pull ups are like underwear. Thoughts? I disagree, I think they are a overpriced diaper sealed on the sides. I feel that if I put him in these, even at night its like telling him it is ok to pee in your pants. I would rather wake up every hour in the night when he calls for us that he has to pee then let him pee in those. Yes I m being woken up thru out the night to help him pee, the poor little guy cant get his pants/undies over his cute little tushie. I actually had his daycare teacher ask me yesterday if I pull his pants down for him. I said well "yes, of coarse I do or he would pee all over". She just shook her head, and says thats why he is having accidents at school. He goes to the toilet when the other kids do and he stands there fully clothed and pees. Great, so I get a Ah-Ha moment yesterday, this is all my fault. Because I baby him he is being a typical man letting the woman do all the work. He knows he can just stand there and mommy will pull down his pants. So from today forward my goal is to teach this little man to pull his own pants down. I honestly think this will help, if at all he thinks we are distracted and he needs to go he is going to go, if he can pull down his own pants this leaves no excuse:) So wish me luck

All About Me

Im a full time Aesthetician of 11 years, Mom and Wife. We live in Las Vegas, but originally from and miss every day Arizona.  I am going 24/7. I love my busy life, even the days I want to pull out my hair. I have an amazing son named Miles who just turned 2 last week. He is full of energy and crazy quirks. He is the most handsome little boy, and Im not just saying that because he is mine. I am also 33 weeks pregnant and cannot wait to meet my new little boy Dylan. And let me tell you this pregnancy as not been smooth sailing. From horrible "All Day" sickness to Pelvic Pain I am ready to be done. Im just hoping my little man Miles will do OK with the new baby. My husband is a private Chef for a family here in town, and he loves his job. We actually grew up together since I was 9 and he was 10. Our moms are friends and we never dated until one day I came to visit Vegas for a convention, and BAM it hit us that we were meant to be together after years of just being friends. I hope this blog to be a way to express myself, vent some days, give skin care tips/advice, mommy tips and suggestions. Maybe even some marital vents or stories. I hope you all enjoy. I will also be posting pictures and daily adventures in the life of our family
